Alpine stuff

I was born in Switzerland and as a child I thought of it as a magical place. My father used to do slide shows for us, and we would see the chalet where we lived, the mountains, the countryside.
This is me in my Swiss outfit.
My nan and grandad bought a cuckoo clock when they came to visit.
As children, whenever we went to their house, we would sit and wait for the cuckoo to do his stuff. Once on the quarter hour and then several times on the hour depending on the time. The later it got the better it was. Cuckoo, Cuckoo.

The sound of music

Over the Christmas period I spent a bit of time watching films. The first one was a film that I haven't seen for years and I don't think I have ever watched in its entirety, which is incomprehensible, since it contains so many things I love and am inspired by.

From the film, here are a few of my favourite things:

A song about cuckoo clocks
Alpine and woodland scenery (I love that bit in the opening titles when she sings among the tree trunks. I always take that photo when I am walking in woodland)
Clothes made out of curtains (the ones they use in the film are so similar to my dining room curtains, look)
Dirndls, Trachten, call it what you will

Bits and bobs

Today I woke up and watched the world turn white through my office window.
Here's a little picture I got for Xmas. My sister is very good at giving presents. I'm really into needlework at the minute.

This is a new mini card in the That's All Folks range.

New treasures

Gosh, it's hectic!

Here are some new charity shop finds; a silver platter, some glass candlesticks and some handblown port glasses.

The ideal scenario would be candles in the candlesticks for soft lighting, cantuccini biscuits in the silver platter and vin santo in the glasses. Put it together for a nice relaxing evening.

Tapestry chair

I finished it!

It's very green. I don't know whether to paint the chair frame.

I've started a new tapestry now. More complicated, this time to put in a frame.

Boxing Day

It's tradition to go for a walk on Boxing Day. Can feel like hard work to begin with, but always a good idea in the end. Sometimes you have to run just so you can feel your toes.
