Paradise Hawaiian style

In the summer of 1977 I was 10 years old. On the 16th August, my dad's birthday, we heard the news. The King had died.
Immediately there was an Elvis season on the telly. All his films. Me and my sisters spent weeks laid on our beds watching them all. We were allowed the black and white portable TV up in our room ESPECIALLY.

Blue Hawaii, Fun in Acapulco, Viva Las Vegas. Oh that dance sequence with Ann Margret! We lapped it up like thirsty kittens. Chemistry was never like THAT at school.

Wonderful exotic locations. The images stayed with me. Fermented for a few years. And then pop! out they came onto greeting cards.

Spring Flowers

Yesterday the man of the house brought me flowers.

These two little deer were complimenting each other on their new headdresses. She plays hard to get. He's focussed. I think it's love.

This morning I woke up and sang 'Islands in the Stream' in bed. It's a good way to start the day.

He played flamenco guitar.

It's a joyful moment when you see the first of the snowdrops. I love it when things start to come back to life. :)

Summer in the garden

Last year I moved house. So we have a new garden. I know I am going to enjoy creating something new, but sometimes I miss my old one...

New slippers

Authentic Greek slippers from the charity shop. Brand new and a perfect fit! I'm wondering if I should get a puffball skirt to complete the look?

We haven't had a song for a while. Here's a good one for a Monday morning. Petula Clark, Couldn't live without your love.

I like her cute hair cut and eye make up in this photo and the dress in the video is really sweet. Plus, you have to check out the Matt Le Blanc-alike and his dance moves.

I offered my mum the opportunity to be my lady-in-waiting. She declined.

So I hoovered the carpets. Then we went for a stroll and treated the graveyard to a rousing rendition of Toreador from Carmen.

Later on it's a roast dinner.

Since the Christmas decorations came down everywhere looks a bit spartan and colourless. This situation needs to be remedied!

So, as soon as I have finished my latest tapestry, I am going to make one of these paper chandeliers. I actually have some tissue paper which has taken up long term residence in my office.

They are called Pajaki and the women of Poland make them to hang in their houses in winter for a bit of colour. Good idea ladies.

Trend Bible

At the recent Top Drawer show there was a design feature section curated by the trend forecasters Trend Bible.

There were four different sections, but these two were the ones that appealed to me. You can see more pictures of all of them on their blog

Did you spot it? Yipppeeeeee, it's a freckleface card! :)

The show

It's all over. It was good, but it's a relief to be finished.

So here we have: the venue, a stand, lots of buyers, lucky gold nails, food and drink to fortify and time. Five days of it. A good time. But now time to go home.

There were lots of friends to chat to, but I was too busy just enjoying the living of it to take photos.

We stayed here some of the time...

Trade fair preparation

At this stage, we have this...
 and this...
...all waiting to go into this.
Oh and mustn't forget my mobile office!
It's all going to be a bit like Mary Poppins' magic bag!

We're going to the same place, but I think her mode of transport looks much more fun than mine :|
