Mrs Malaprop has been missing in action

I see I have been missing in action for quite some time. Deary me. Where does the time go?

I have no idea. I can tell you that I have been busy, but I can't necessarily specify how. We have certainly been working hard on the garden, because when I thought to look at my recent photos, they are all of flowers.
We did a pop up Steptoe and Son for a day with the contents of the shed. A couple of pieces came out to be chucked, but most of it went straight back in. Excellent. Guess we'll be doing another one soon.
I bought this dress a while ago, but when it arrived, it really honked. I stuck it out on the line to air for about a month. It's been hanging around like the protagonist from Don't Look Now at the top of the garden. I think it has now finally been rid of its anti-social tendencies. Now I just need to do a bit of jiggery pokery on the sewing machine and it can be unveiled. It's crimplene. I'm not a mad fan of synthetic fabrics: they have a tendency to make my hair look like this dandelion, but I'm going to give it a whirl.
I thought you might like to view my world-famous cellulite fish. I have a friend who has entertained us for years with her malapropisms. When she gets cold, her teeth clatter, and, for the record, she is electric to meat.
I'm a bit of a vocabulary geek. I love a juicy word, and I love to know the provenance, particularly if it is foreign. Did you know that the word parlor started off as a parley room, which in itself comes from the french 'parler' to talk or speak. Or that the word 'shufti' meaning have a quick look, comes from arabic and was brought into common parlance by soldiers returning from North Africa during WWII?

No? Well, you do now. So endeth the lesson for today.

In other news, I am still awaiting action in my bedroom. The wardrobes, I mean. We'll have less of your sauce. When the man finally turns up, this is what I want it to look like.

This post feels rather as though I am grasping at straws. But good news this way comes. Over the next few days I am going to escape the garden and see Actual Real People, so hopefully there will be something blogworthy to report. I just wanted to say hello...

Flowers are natures way of saying I love you so do take notice! I am intrigued by your cellulite fish and completely confused, where does it live in your place? I also am smitten by you bedroom and the blank canvas it is. Words intrigue and mystify me, my vocabulary sucks so I appreciate the lesson:)

Your bedroom is serene and I love the chandelier.
so many beautiful flowers and hopefully the dress smell went away and you can work your magic on it.
Have fun talking and interacting with people but don't forget your flower friends!

Cellulite fish, Steptoe and Son, juicy words, Dandelion hair and stinky crimplene! It's always a joy to see a post from you!!!
I'm loving that glazed cupboard (you didn't sell that, did you?) Your flowers are gorgeous and that's pretty much how my dream bedroom looks (but invariably ends up as a kitsch paradise).
I can't wait for you to escape the garden, either! Eeeek! Excited already! xxxxxx

Now, I am assuming that is NOT your actual bedroom, but what you want it to look like after the appropriate action has occurred? Is that right, or have I misunderstood? If it does end up looking like that, I doubt you will ever leave it, you'll just lounge about in a vintage nightie being waited on and looking sexy and gorgeous.
Your flowers are beautiful (I'm partial to flower close-ups, as you may have noticed...) and thank you for clearing up the malapropic (?) cellulite fish mystery. It's pink!

Words are great, aren't they? I don't understand why people stick with such a limited vocabulary when there are so many humdingers they could choose instead. (Can you research the etymology of humdinger please?)
And can you model the now-fragrant Don't Look Now crimplene frock for us soon? xxxxxx

Darl, I haven't even STARTED on the sauce! I do hope some serious action starts happening in that bedroom! HA!
Your dream room looks womnderfully glamourous. It's important that the action room is beautiful and makes us feel sexy!
We did a Steptoe and Son on our garage the other week and were quite successful! We both felt terribly virtuous after throwing piles of rubbish out and giving the decent shit to the opshop! Virtue be my middle name!
Now, you never need to apologise for being too busy to blog! Having a life is GREAT!!! Yes, we pine, but we'll survive!
O, I did know about the word parley. I find that sort of thing interesting, but I don't look much into it.

It's always lovely to hear from you but it's never often enough. I'm a word geek too, I'm dying to read a book called The Etymologicon, you should definitely look it up. The beautiful dress does look very sinister and romantic hanging in your garden. I adore the cellulite fish, he's fantastic, I want to know more. Is that an old pantry box I spy? I love a good Malaprop! My Nana told us her gardener was found dead because he forgot to insulate himself xxx

I've got dandelion hair too, although I've never described it as nicely (or poetically) as that...
I wish I could see your cellulite (I've got that too - God help me!) fish in action.
Don't apologise for your floral extravaganza - there's nothing wrong with saying it with flowers x

Ha, I have definite dandelion hair - I crackle when one particular jumper goes on, you could probably stick me to the ceiling like a static balloon.

I would ADORE a bedroom like that...let me know if you achieve it.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with "burying" yourself in the garden ... I mean really, look at what your efforts have produced. Magic!!! Oh gawd I think we might have to do a bit of a Steptoe and Son, I took enormous bags of all sorts of unused but great stuff to my favourite op shop over a two week period and do you think the house looks any different? I think you know the answer. I certainly did not know the origins of "shufti" and I will delight in informing my very own vocabulary geek, #3 Son, what I have learned from this lovely post:). Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my blog my friend, you really are a darling. xoxoxoxoxoxo
