In praise of homely pursuits

I was due to go down south this weekend, but snow and flooding made it all too tricky. So I had a suddenly free weekend, at home, to do with what I would.

I thought I might read a book or watch a dvd.

But I didn't. On a whim, I started making some jewellery.
He played guitar and made some tasty treats. Beetroot and walnut houmous, courtesy of Hugh. It really is delicious.

He asked me what colour I would call it. I said framboise. I know, who do I think I am? Karl Lagerfeld?

If you want the recipe, here it is.

I'm a sucker for these apps. I know you can't really see clearly and they are probably really passé but I love the effects. The one I have been using a lot recently is like a polaroid, whereas this one is like old slide film.

That's bizarre, we were only chatting about Toast in the pub last night...freaky!
You did have a constructive weekend, that jewellery is fantastic and the food looks delicious. I'm addicted to messing with effects, too! xxx

I have watched Toast and loved it. Helga tells me the book is great, just need to get my hands on a copy(still no Lisa btw - 'she' is proving to be an elusive character)
Houmous looks delish.
Gorgeous old Elvis album covers and hand-made jewels.
And on apps and effects, I can just about turn my fancy new phone on(!) so there is nothing passe about your effects to me. At all!
Have a lovely week Tania x

The Sofia pendant and the necklaces are funky and spring-like!
Very lucky to have a guy that can cook and play the guitar.

The weather is truly awful, the best thing to do is just stay inside and make gorgeous jewellery - those necklaces are amazing, the Sofia one is wonderful. I'm feeling peckish now.. xxx

Well, if one's weekend plans are scuppered, then jewellery making is the next best thing, especially if there's a man around to keep you supplied with delicious food and music, both homemade!
The necklaces are wonderful. Funnily enough, they were talking about the joys of beetroot on the Simon Mayo show this evening, houmous was mentioned, along with cakes/brownies and a beetroot curry. Encourage Himself to experiment - more food a la framboise! xxxx
