The King of Rock and Roll and the King of Heaven

I intended to post yesterday in celebration of the fact that I now have 100 followers, but I left it a day and now I have 101! Thank you so much to all of you for following me.

Without further ado, here is the wonderful Swiss made frock that lovely Curtise gave me. It is a terry towelling  fabric in red white and blue with a zip down the front. It is soft, comfortable and I love it! It takes me straight back to about 1974. Time travel, you can't ask much more of a dress than that can you?
Here it is teamed with the amazing 1970s platforms gorgeous Vix gave me. I regularly put high heels on my list to Santa in about 1974. Didn't get them at the time. It just goes to show, good things come to those who wait...

A few of you asked what I bought on my recent trip to Chesterfield market. Well, the easy answer is fabric! Plenty of it! Can you tell I'm a Textiles graduate?

An amazing alpine tea towel, a wonderful 1970s offcut featuring a rocking horse, the softest yellow floral cotton curtain to be made into something or other and a 1940s tablecloth which went straight outside onto the table up the garden.

The tea towel is entitled Les Chamois. I looked it up and it is a type of goat antelope which lives in the Alps. Perfect. I love it so much.

Such is the voraciousness of the pigeons hereabouts, we have had to cover our crops in netting. I like to think of these strawberry blooms as little brides peeking out from behind their veils.
I inherited an amazing gold and turqoise ring which was stolen years ago. The universe has sent this 50p special from Chesterfield market to replace it. Thanks Cheapskates, I shall wear it often.
The King of Rock and Roll and the King of Heaven. I can't believe I didn't buy these Graceland pounds. What am I going to use when I visit?
Coffee pot from Chesterfield market and matching anenomes in my garden.

That's all folks! xx

That dress is so cute, and looks super comfy too.
Those platform sandals are great.
Such pretty flowers, (I am almost done planting mine, two more pots to fill.)
I am crazy over all your fabric items. That rocking horse and the floral circle table cloth are totally fabulous!

Hot Dog, Jumping Frog, Albuquerque! That's what the King Of Rock and Roll makes me think of! The dress is perfect - I had a towelling dress that my dad used as an oily rag - he was not popular I can tell you. Anyway - you look fabulous in it, it's rather saucy isn't it? I love everything you bought from the market. Obviously there was a touch of fate there that day, with your longed for high heels and a replacement for your turquoise ring. It's gorgeous too. I want to come round for tea in the garden, that table cloth is wonderful xxxxx

Oh wow! That frock is lovely and look at your pins! Fabulous.
I love your finds. I'd have had to have had the Graceland notes just for the kitsch appeal and I have about twenty Jesus/Saint bracelets....can't stop collecting them!
Yes. Yes we can tell you're a textiles graduate!

Swit woo! Look at you! Curtise's frock is flipping gorgeous on you, far too sexy for tennis, I can tell you! Love those sandals on you. I was so excited to find teensy platforms in your size I did a happy dance at the boot sale!
Your textile finds are beyond gorgeous and the ring is so sweet and now Clare's mentioned Prefab Sprout I need to enter the Vinyl Shed and give From Langley park To Memphis a blast. xxx

I had a strapless hot pink terry towelling frock when I was 14!!! Terry towelling is so bloody useful as a frock, it soaks up any spills, and is comfy as hell, as you say! Yours is a perfect Summery frock, and when you go to the beach, you don't need to take a towel!
I'm really keen on those shoes, they're perfect!!!
That ring is a divoon score, and I love the rocking horse tea towel. Damn you tarts, I am so jealous y'all get to touch each other!!!

Ahh, a non-Swiss maid in her Swiss-made dress! That dress looks a million times better on you than me, I am so pleased it found its way to the rightful custodian of the towelling goodness! And the platforms from Vix are beautiful (I won't tell Eldest your feet are the same size as hers, she'll come and raid your shoe rack...) You look gorgeous.
You scored very well on the fabrics at Chesterfield, I'm still laughing at the lady on the stall remarking she heard a collective "ooohhhh" when you held up the chamois tea towel! The yellow fabric is sooooo pretty (destined to be a dress, surely?) and the tablecloth looks perfect on your table in the garden.
The birds, snails, slugs and squirrels eat everything in our garden, I have given up on trying to grow veg, though a few strawberry plants seem to have self-seeded from previous attempts... Dessert for the birds again this year, no doubt.
Aren't those 50p boxes and tables good fun? We all found a ring or two, didn't we? I'll be there again on Thursday, all the stall holders will be disappointed you lot aren't with me, I don't pack the same punch on my own!
Have a lovely week, my dear. Just holler when you fancy a day out in Sheffield, or another trip to the market! xxxxx

Congratulations on 101 followers!
The fabrics designs, the coffee pot, the the bride peeking strawberry blooms, the wedges and that return to 1974 dress are all so impressively beautiful.

Curtise and Vix did a great job of picking you prezzies Tania, and you found some gorgeous finds yourself, all those lovely fabrics and that ring. It's our rabbit who keeps eating everything in the garden so I'm always in trouble because it was me who sneaked her home and hid her in the shed until the kids grassed me to their dad. xx

A terry cloth dress. How practical! And how adorable you are in it!! Good thing I wasn't at the market. We would have had quite a tussle over les Chamois!

How sweet and original is that dress from Curtise! I bet it's super comfy too, I adore it on your sweet adorable frame! I am always attracted to prints first so I can relate to your love of textiles! Your place is full of such cute stuff!

You look amazing in your dress and platforms. They're perfect on you.

It's lovely to see all your gorgeous fabrics on the line. We did all love that teatowel didn't we :) And I loved that tablecloth when you bought it, all the work that must have gone into it.

I have to smile about the 70s offcut - a teacosy indeed!

I don't have much luck with veggies in the garden, the slugs always have them, but my alpine strawberries are doing quite well.

Looking forward to following your gardening adventures, and to meeting up again. Maybe Nottingham?

Ooh wow what amazing textiles! I love them all, especially that yellow curtain. Love the towelling dress too, I have a couple of those stashed away.

I can see why you love that 70s Swiss-made dress. I so remember those heathery patterns and the zips down the front. It looks perfect with the sandals. It's almost as though Curtise and Vix coordinated their gifts.
Like you, I'm crazy about textiles. The hobby horse piece has such fun, vibrant colors. Well done on those finds!

Hey, congrats on reaching 100! I think we have the same number now. Enjoyed reading about your trip to Chesterfield and was madly envious of the bargains scored and the fun had. Love your rocking horse fabric, will you show us what it becomes? Prefab Sprout! I always sing along when Ken gives them a spin.
