Serena's house part 1

Last week I was lucky enough to go and visit my friend Serena in her adorable little house in Nottingham. She lives on the cutest street, not far from all the buzz of the city but tucked away and has created a real feeling of peace and calm. Serena by name, serener by nature.
Her little pussy cat loves water. Coincidentally he is called Otter. So sweet.
Talk about domestic goddess, she knocked up this batch of cakes while I was talking her head off. Lemon and poppyseed friands. They were as light as air and still warm, she served them with natural yoghurt and fresh raspberries. Watch out Nigella, there's a new kid on the block.
At any time of the year you will see flowers in vases dotted round the house. I love her creative use of wooden fruit crates. This eau de nil colour is a favourite of hers, which she has used to paint various pieces of rescued furniture.
Another gorgeous pussy cat, painted furniture and a lovely bevelled mirror.

There's more tomorrow!

O, yay, you changed to a pop up box!!
OMG, I LOVE Serena's kitchen table!!
The book cabinet is rather lush also, and her CATS!! SQUEE! Otter is so adorable, with THE cutest name ever!! Otters make my eyes water...and I think that cats and otters are quite similar.
Both cats are quite the cutest cats! I love cats. can you tell?!

What a gorgeous, homely looking house! I love the eau de nil shade Serena's painted her furniture and of course, her beautiful cats. I'm always on the lookout for fruit crates, I love hers in the bathroom.
Nice to see a glimpse of you in the mirror! x

What a lovely home and adorable cats. I wish I had a homely & inviting kitchen like that as for those cakes your description of them makes my mouth water. The fruit crate shelves in the bathroom look smashing, what a brilliant idea...xXx

I aspire to one day having a lovely post written about my domestic goddess-ery and gorgeous pad. However I fear it's more likely to be blurb on a Kim and Aggie show at the moment!

If she wasn't your lovely friend, I might find myself feeling very envious of Serena... Some people just have the knack of creating a lovely, stylish, inviting home. Complete with gorgeous cats and flowers. And fruit crates. And things painted eau de nil. I have the cats... But alas nothing else blog-worthy! Can she come and do something with my house please?
PS. Thank you for recognising that I am always right. When Serena comes over to tart up my house, can you come over too and pop along to the next PTA meeting for me, and tell them? Thanks, love! xxxx

Eau de nil is one of my most favourite colours too, it is a perfect choice for old furniture. We have a few old stools and a little cupboard still wearing their original 40's eau de nil paint job. They have seen better days, but I would never repaint them.
Little Otter, what a perfect name for a cat! He is very sweet (and I'm not even a cat person - sorry x)
Serena's home is lovely and she is very pretty too.
