She was being kind.
The word she was looking for was haggard.
But not any more. I've been to seek help. In the form of eyelashes. My local beauty salon had this incredible offer on. Half set of lashes for £10. I didn't really realise what a half set meant, but here is what it is; they stick a false eyelash onto every other natural eyelash, all across the top.
The red lips and cheeks came free, courtesy of the weather.
Ta-dah!
I am so pleased with myself that I am linking to Patti's visible Monday and Lakota's Ta-dah! Tuesday.
The other person I want to link up with today is sweet Clare at MissSimmondssays. It all started with Helga dressing up as Frida Kahlo, then Clare also paid tribute and suggested a bit of dressing up fun to liven up January if anyone in Blogland wanted to join in.
Well I do!
And look who I am going for! Only our Liz!
My criteria was that the person must have dark hair, distinguishing make-up and I must have a suitable outfit. Check, check, check. Queen of the Nile it is!
The dress is a 1960s maxi which I got off ebay a few years ago. I love the back detail. The headdress was from my first holy communion. |

W-O-W!! You look gorgeous! Love the eyelashes and the yellow maxi. The head and hair make you look very Margot Fonteyn in Swan Lake xx
Ooh thanks Olivia, what a lovely comparison! xxx
You look amazing! Love the eyelashes (how long do they stay on?) and your fabulous yellow frock is just stunning. You are definitely channelling Liz Taylor glamour!
Hmm, I told Clare I would do a dress up post, but I am feeling a little uninspired... I need to give myself a kick up the arse and go for it, I always enjoy a dressing up session! xxxx
Ooh I've been wondering about getting my stumpy eyelashes enhanced for ages - yours look amazing! And what a bargain.
Fab Liz look too. Thanks for linking up!
The eyelashes last about three weeks in total. It's lovely having glamorous lashes, even temporarily. I recommend it! xxx
Love the eye makeup and that yellow dress looks great against your skin!
Have a lovely and fun weekend,
How cool!!! The eyelashes look lovely, actually somewhat natural - it's making me consider trying them! Love the Liz look and that yellow dress is perfect!!!
Yes, they do look very natural. Most people don't realise they are fake, they just think you have great eyelashes. I know one or two people who do have lashes like that naturally, lucky ducks! xx
So glad to have found you, and your unique blog thanks to Patti´s.
I am following and adding you to my blogroll, yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Great inspiration and love for secondhand.

Welcome Sacramento Amate! Lovely to have you here, I shall pop across and find you now! xxx
Gorgeous! You channel Liz so wonderfully. Thanks for sharing your fabulous look with Visible Monday.
Liz Taylor would be proud!!
Ta-da, indeed. You have it Liz down, and to the tee! No longer haggard in the least. Very impressive!
Thank you for your lovely comments! xx
Not sure how I missed this but this is amazing. You look fantastic, Liz was a great choice. Fantastic dress, it's absolutely perfect! Xxx
Ps, I agree with the Margot Fonteyn comparison, you really look like her and a lot like Maria Callas too x
Wow, thank you! It's amazing what a bit of slap can do! Maria Callas, how wonderful, she has such a strong look. I love that! xxx
You look gorgeous. I had eyelash extensions (full set) done monthly for a full year. I loved them, felt so glam, but I thought it was time for my own (stumpy) little eyelashes to get some fresh air. Might be time to start fluttering again...
I can't believe you've still got your Holy Communion headpiece. I want to see a pic...you show me yours and I'll show you mine.
